3/25/21 Update:

We are not accepting new mentor applications at this time due to a backlog of trained mentors waiting to be matched. We anticipate high demand for mentors upon the start of a new academic year in the fall. We will re-open our application portal in July 2021. Please click the link below if you would like to receive an email when the application portal has been re-opened.

If you have already submitted an application, please continue through the registration process by submitting a background check and attending a virtual training. Scroll down for instructions on completing these steps.

Become a Mentor

A mentor acts as a role model and friend; they encourage positive choices, promote high self-esteem, and support academic achievement. During normal times, Mentors visit their assigned “mentee” at school, ideally once each week during the school year, for a meal, game, academic help, school program, and conversation.

Until in-person visits resume, we'll be focusing on our new Pen Pals initiative! Be someone that listens, offers friendship, guidance, and encouragement to a young person. You’ll be amazed by how much you’ll get out of the experience.

Requirements

  1. Must be 18 years or older.
  2. Fill out an application.
  3. Attend a training session.
  4. Pass background check.
  5. Begin changing a life.

Commitment

In order to become a mentor, you must commit to one full year of mentor responsibilities. To make a difference, you have to be there. A full year of commitment promotes trust, confidence, and stability within the student, which are all crucial components for life changing effects.
